Launching - New Italian Language Education Program

  • Select our “Education Program” button on our home page for further details and how to book.

  • Al volante Education Program Visit
Al volante (At the wheel) is a collection of Italian activities for teachers and students. This resource contains suggested pre and post visit activities and activities students can complete while on a visit to the Fox Classic Car Collection. The Al volante resource has been created for the Early, Middle and Later Years Italian classroom and is based on Lindsay Fox’s Classic Car Collection

  • The aim of the Al volante program is to provide teachers and students with a focus on the world of automobiles and to provide a stimulus for using the Italian language. Students can consider how different materials are used for different purposes, explore and observe variations in manufacture, consider the development of automobiles within our society along with trends and stories attached some vehicles.
  • The program can form part of a longer unit of work, which can include visits to other partners in the automotive industry and link in with alternative science and technology programs. Al volante can also link with SOSE, the Visual Arts and English curriculum areas as part of an integrated unit of work.
In addition, the visit could be one aspect of an introduction to the exciting and developing Docklands precinct. We have a grassed parkland area directly behind our building with toilet amenities (5 min walk). Interactive play structures have been installed along with toilets, solar B-B-Q's & a picnic area. The city tourist tram stop is also adjacent to this area.
  • Format
Teachers and supervisors will be required to undertake the Al volante Classic Car tour in the Queen’s Warehouse independently of Fox Collection staff. The tour activity is best suited to smaller supervised teams of up to 10 students working through their activity sheets together with their supervisor.
  • Our staff will provide a short introduction upon arrival, after which the smaller groups will be directed to the appropriate area to commence the chosen Al volante activity sheets.
  • Duration of visit with activity would be approximately 1 1/2 hours.

To make a booking, complete an Expression of Interest form and fax to the Fox Classic Car Collection. Teachers will be contacted directly by email or phone to make further arrangements.

  • Arrival of new Enzo Ferrari

  • If you want to see one of the worlds’ newest super cars you now have the chance.

The Fox Classic Car Collection has just taken delivery of its most recent exhibit. It is the V12 Enzo Ferrari. The Enzo is the latest in the line of super cars built by Ferrari and closest road car to a Formula 1.

This car can go very fast reaching 0-100 kph in 3.62 sec. And for the petrol heads the V12 engine produces a thunderous top end of 660 bhp at 7800 rpm with a top speed of 350kph.

The car is special and so is the color – it is painted in Linfox colours. It is known to be the only Enzo produced with its unusual colour scheme of a yellow roof.

The Enzo is now on display at the Fox Classic Car Collection in Docklands.

  • Education Program Launch at 2003 Melbourne Motor Show

The Fox Classic Car Collection Education Program was launched at the 2003 Melbourne Motor Show. The production line for the miniature car assembly was demonstrated at the show. The Fox Classic Car Collection and miniature car production line form the basis of the interactive education program.

  • For more details about the Education Program please read the information below.
  • New Education Program now on Offer

The Fox Classic Car Collection now offers an interactive education program with an automotive industry focus. It is currently aimed at the upper primary levels 4-6 with a focus on the Key Learning Areas (KLA’s) of Technology and Science. The program experiences can be readily integrated into a broad range of KLA’s. The Fox Collection visit could form part of a longer unit of work that may include visits to other partners in the automotive industry.

The program emphasises work safety practices and teamwork. It aims to help students learn more about the automotive industry by providing an insight into the construction, history and heritage of automobiles, the materials used and technology involved.

When visiting the Fox Classic Car Collection and undertaking the Education Program students will be able to:

• View the car collection utilising a structured activity
• Work in teams on mini production line constructing a miniature automobile
• Tour the workshop and technical centre where the cars are restored using traditional skills and crafts
• Undertake pre and post visit activities provided as integral parts to the program

  • Activities include:
    • Investigating materials used in the production of automobiles
